More than 3 billion users of the world’s largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer, Huawei, can now access one of the TRON’s portfolio projects, BitTorrent, via their mobile devices.
According to an official blog post from the TRON Foundation, Huawei recently partnered with TRON and has listed BitTorrent (BTT) on their latest devices, which users can access through the app gallery.
The development will ensure that Huawei customers using any of the company’s latest device, including the Huawei Mate 30, Mate 30 Pro, P40, P40 Pro, or P40 Plus mobile device, have the opportunity to access four applications from one of the world’s largest distributed blockchain network and file-sharing services.
The four listed apps include BitTorrent, BitTorrent Pro, uTorrent, and uTorrent Pro, which more than 3 billion Huawei users from 170 different countries will enjoy.
Tron acquired BitTorrent in 2018, and the project was subsequently integrated into the TRON network. The BitTorrent token (BTT) was later launched in early 2019, and it currently powers the entire BitTorrent X ecosystem.
BitTorrent is regarded as the largest decentralized platform globally as it has more than 100 million active users and more than 2 billion mobile installs.
By securing a partnership with Huawei, the largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer in the world, TRON is set to create new protocols that will link apps in the Huawei ecosystem to the TRON network via the BTT token and some decentralized features like the BitTorrent File System (BTFS)
In a statement regarding the partnership, Justin Sun, the founder of TRON and CEO of BitTorrent, said, “This is another huge milestone for TRON and BitTorrent to be listed by one of the largest Android manufacturers in the world. We are excited to see the blossoming universe of distributed networks grow via Huawei devices and technology.”
